Derek Bawn Wins CTR XCC Round 2 at the beautiful Bronydd Mawr Trecastle

Derek Bawn showed great strength and determination to push all the way to the end taking the win from Clinton Thomas is self just returning back after injury, CTR and the team had been hard at work all week race track building, Team CTR built a 4.5 mile Enduro cross country course with great access & parking, fields, hills, descents, jumps, woods, forest, bogs ETC all built to accommodate any ability of rider.

At the start Derek Bawb got the holeshot from Clinton Thomas, Alfie Webb and Matthew Jones with Paul Biggs getting the Vet Experts holeshot, next group set free was the clubman with Gavin Jones getting the holeshot closely followed by Nathan Collins and Graham Owens, Next let loose the Vet Clubman and Over 50’s with Keith Hebbron grabbing the Vet Clubman holeshot from Toby Bevan and Justin Owens and Mark Saunders grabbing the Overs, Last to be unleashed was the Novice class with Richard Bowen getting the holeshot from Chris Williams and Co as all the CTR racers set off into the distance all eyes were now focussed on lap scoring to see who would lead the racers around.

At Lap Scoring the CTR racers were led by Matthew Jones with Derek Bawn Tim Forman and Co hot on his tail the superfast clubman Dominic Lyons was next to complete the lap, Paul Biggs was leading the Vet Expert charge with Ryan Mitchel not far behind, Next class leader around the lap was Over’s racer Mark Saunders, with Toby Bevan leading the Vet Clubman around, Jason Kendal led the Novice class around infront of Chris Williams and Jack Marsh.

At the midway Matthew Jones was leading the race and the hammer man Derek Bawn hot on his tail ready to pounce and when Jones ran out of fuel Bawn did just that Alfie Webb moved into 3rd until he had machine problems leaving Clinton Thomas move to 3rd Derek Bawn took control and led the race to the end with Clinton Thomas 2nd and Vet Expert Paul Biggs 3rd and taking the class win, Dominic Lyons was leading the Clubman until the last lap he got stuck in a bog leaving Glyn McGuire steal the win, Keith Hebron was leading the Vet Clubman Mark Saunders was leading the Over 50’s and Jack Marsh was leading the Novice.

At the chequered flag everyone really enjoyed the days racing stating what an awesome track all with smiles on their faces Derek Bawn was the overall winner from Clinton Thomas and Matthew Jones was 3rd in the Expert class, Paul Biggs won the Vet Experts from Ryan Mitchel, Glyn McGuire won the Clubman class Dominic Lyons 2nd  and Alex Van Dyke 3rd, Mark Saunders won the Over 50’s class from Phil George with Richard Holland 3rd, Keith Hebron won the Vet Clubman class from Toby Bevan 2nd  and Adrian Llewellyn 3rd, Jack Marsh won the Novice class with Jason Kendal 2nd and Michael Davies 3rd , Its was a great days racing with lots of muddy smiley faces thanks to all involved and all our team next event XCC RD3 05.06 May at Fan Farm Myddfai near Llandovery
